“Alhumdullillah, our Sunday program has been one of the most consistent & enjoyable weekly events at Masjid Al-Madina. On a typical Sunday, the program is divided into three portions”

Sunday Children’s Program

(12:30pm – 2:00pm, Old Building)

Under the auspice of Imam & Haffiz Yunus Lasania as well as our 3 Islamic Teachers, children ranging from ages 4 to 18 years participate in 4 class groups. Our curriculum is comprehensive and provides a practical yet detailed explanation of Islamic tenants. For a complete list of core subjects click here. Imam Lasania is a great teacher and role model for our students both spiritually as well as in matters outside the masjid. Often, he will open the floor to the children for open discussion about any subject. The goal is to foster an environment of trust, open dialogue, and understanding.

Adult Tafsir Program

(12:30pm – 2:00pm, New Building)

Since completing our new masjid construction, MVIA has added a new program for weekly adult attendees and parents of Sunday school students. We want to encourage an environment of learning and enlightenment alongside the students.  Various lectures and talks by famous scholars and speakers from around the world will be played during this time. As the time for Dhuhur prayer nears, students join the adults in the main building for congregational prayer.

After-Dhuhur General Tafsir and Exegesis

(2:00pm – 2:45pm, New Building)

After performing the afternoon Dhuhur prayer, Imam Lasania conducts a general tafsir or exegesis concerning a set of 10 to 15 verses from the Holy Qur’an. In the course of a year, we complete many chapters and sections from the Qur’an. Additionally,  explanations are given regarding each verse, covering details such as the period & context of revelation as well as Prophetic traditions narrated by Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) companions. Following the Tafsir a short dua is conducted marking the end of the program.

Often, students will also partake in the general Tafsir program. Younger students may share fun and interesting stories from the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) while the older kids are encouraged to give speeches on a wide range of Islamic and contemporary topics. Upon concluding the general Tafsir, we usually offer snacks and refreshments in the basement of the old building. Additionally, we’d like to remind our friends from around the Springfield community that they are welcomed to join us!

*On occasion MVIA will host guest speakers from the community. Please check our Facebook page for updates.
