Imam Yunus Lasania has graced Masjid Al-Madina  &  MVIA with his service for over 20 years.  

Both a Hafiz of the Qur’an and Alim of Islamic studies, Imam Lasania leads the daily Salat (prayers), delivers the Friday Qutbah (sermon), teaches children in our Islamic School, hosts the weekly Sunday meetings, and leads Tarawih prayers during the month of Ramadan.  Yunus Lasania studied at the prestigious Darul Uloom Bury in England.  Being of Indian heritage, Imam Lasania was born and raised in the United Kingdom.

After memorizing the Quran, he completed the traditional six-year curriculum Alim course covering the Arabic language, Arabic morphology, Islamic jurisprudence, Tafseer (exegis) of the Holy Qur’an, Hadith (Prophetic Sciences), Philosophy, and Aqeedah (Islamic Creed) under the guidance of many pioneer scholars in England.  The community has greatly benefited from his academic scholarship as well as his ability to relate to the common issues and concerns of Western Society.  In addition to the above, Imam Lasania also conducts marriage ceremonies, Ameen Celebrations, and the Shahadah of new Muslims.

He is married, has three children, and is an avid fan of The English Premier League Soccer.  He speaks fluent English, Arabic, Urdu, and Gujrati.
